So this post is coming very late and will be rough because, well, I just got home from running a half marathon at night. Our friends Senthil, Starr, Andrew, Angela and myself all ran in the inaugural Zulu Racing – Alien Half Marathon in Roswell, GA. All in all it was a good first effort by our friend who organized and staged the race. The parking situation was without a doubt was a complete cluster fuck but that can be fixed in a year. The rest of the race was hit or miss depending on who you ask.
So, my plan was to just walk this morning but I ended up running instead. I have to admit that a wave of anger came over me that fueled my run and drove me to break my tapering rule. Emotionally fueled workouts, however, can be some of the best. I preach to people all the time to channel the energy from anything that may be consuming their thoughts and/or emotions and pour that into their workouts. I did that today and felt better for it.
Today’s cycling class was probably the last really intense workout we’ll do before our half marathon on Saturday. At most we will run a n easy 4.1 miles tomorrow evening just to work out any pre-race kinks and then follow up that with a casual walk on Thursday and complete veg state on Friday. As far as class went today, great as usual. I wanted to share something else that I found helps me with spin class.
To say today was busy would be an understatement; but like I have said before, I wouldn’t have it any other way. It started with a 5:30 am wake up to take care of some errands followed by our long run which can be compared to last Saturday’s long run. I shot for a total distance of 10+ miles and one and a half hours of total duration. I exceeded my distance goal and met the duration goal.
