Today was my first real do nothing day in a while. I had in mind an idea to share lots of tips, analysis on any training, and so on in this post; I feel, however, I need to rest my mind today as much as my body. I know I will have lots to share about the race tomorrow and like wise the rest if the month as I push towards 281.2 and then some. Which reminds me, while talking with a friend today I was reminded to define again what 281.2 means again.
The number 281.2 is the combined distance of two full Ironman races. Broken down into each discipline, that means 4.8 miles of swimming, 224 miles of cycling, and 52.4 miles of running. I want to compete in an Ironman one day so I want to get a taste of what it will be like so that is why I set up this goal and will probably up it as we get closer to the race day. In fact, my next goal will be 310 miles of cumulative distance.
To not be completely boring, below is a picture from our wedding nearly a month ago that my friend Shannol shared with me today. It’s hard to believe that it was only about a month ago. I’ll also share some great reading material on how to plot your athletic career. Lastly, here are links to two more additional swim workouts that my friend Bob gave to me today (workout #1 and workout #2). Enjoy, and I hope you all will get out and be active this weekend.
