Busy busy. What was supposed to be a lake house weekend trip for Labor Day was rudely interrupted by our car being broken into the night before. So, we rearranged plans to deal with that but had an excellent end to the holiday weekend. Got in some great golfing, walks and runs, and an awesome Monday grilling out in the backyard with family and friends. Always a silver lining.
Life “Pre-crastinator,” that’s the word of the week. I learned it while listening to this week’s Ted Radio Hour Podcast, “Slowing Down.” Coined by psychologist Adam Grant, it refers to those among us who are hyper planners and obsessed with getting maximizing efficiency out of every minute. I immediately identified with this and was […]
Life What a wonderful week filled with sailing around the Greek ports and islands with MedSailors. We spent about 8 days in Athens with 6 friends and our skipper. We were part of a fleet of 10 ships that went from Athens to Peridika, to Ermioni, to Spetses, to Ephidhavros, to Poros and finally Agistri. […]
What a crazy month July was. Spent so many days celebrating anniversaries, hitting fitness goals, watching the Democratic and Republican conventions, 4th of July, watching various movies as part of the summer blockbuster release extravaganza and in the end discovering Stranger Things. I definitely experienced life in full this month. I hope to carry the energy and momentum deep into the second half of this year.
A very eventful week. I completed my first half marathon in over a year. I was really concerned that I would not be able to participate since I was sick all week and was coughing badly up until the night before. I am glad I sucked it up and pushed through though. I ran in the XTERRA Thrill in the Hills trail race.
More DIY success but mostly planning and researching big projects. I am just sick of sky high quotes for tasks that I am more than capable of doing with careful planning and selective help. I am also thinking of jettisoning the artificial turf idea and willing grass to grow in the backyard.
I learned some interesting family history this week. Specifically, that my father was married once before he met my mother for a couple of years. My mom and dad never told us about it because he got married super young, when he was 19, and it only lasted a couple of years. That is the type of material that makes for some great story corps interviews. I wish I could sit down and have a beer with him, especially this weekend because the Super Bowl was a favorite event of ours.
